DUAL TELESCOPIC (2 STAGE) ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES

Design utilizes two hydraulic telescopic (2 stage) jacks, which are located on each side of the platform and installed on the pit floor. Two stage telescopic jacks can accommodate approximately 23'-0" of travel. Travel may be increased with higher pit and overhead.

Advantages:
  • Available with low and high capacity elevators
  • Accommodates passenger or freight loading
  • Allows for front and rear openings
  • Jack hole is not required - Eliminates cost for drilling and reduces the risk of oil contamination
  • Increased travels available compared to single stage jacks
Disadvantages:
  • May require a larger hoistway width due to the jacks mounted on each side of the platform
  • Additional pit and overhead may be required with higher travels
  • Side opening not an option
  • Material costs are typically higher compared to an in-ground application
  • Synchronization of jacks are required
