Industrial Engineer/Supervisor
Job Summary: This is a Hatfield, PA based position for this manufacturer of residential and commercial elevators. The successful candidate will supervise hourly workers in the manufacture of hydraulic elevators and components. This candidate must have a solid background in fabrication, assembly, packaging, and materials handling methods. Must be able to meet production schedules and our high standards of quality within cost performance goals. The successful candidate would also be able to effectively communicate with all Business Units to encourage others to meet group targets and deadlines. A general understanding of and commitment to positive employee relations concepts is required.The successful candidate will be responsible for the facilitation of our quality program initiatives and related metrics, support ISO Certification efforts, facilitation of engineering change implementations, special projects management, monitoring processes on shop floor to assure quality products, documentation of standard work, process training for coworkers, develop and implement routines to detect quality issues prior to shipments and offer engineering support for the following: manufacturing/ quality problem resolution, resolution of customer complaints, supplier development, resolution for supplier problems, support towards lean manufacturing: designing and implementing cells, work stations and replenishment systems and visuals.
- 3-5 years manufacturing/quality engineering experience within a manufacturing plant
- BA/BS degree with 5+ years experience; MA/MS degree with 3+ years experience
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Visio & Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Project
- Strong background in concepts and execution in lean manufacturing
- Experience in application of probability and statistics in product/process improvement
- Experience in ISO 9000 Certification
- Experience in supervision/direction of manufacturing associates, lead by example in the assignment and conduct of safe and high-quality work
- Evaluate, critique, and grow assigned personnel toward improved performance
- Organize and involved assigned human resources in effective teamwork
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
Tool & Die
Job Summary: The Die Setter is responsible for the die changes on brake, large and small press dies on the plant floor. Position is expected to maintain and care for the dies so that they are in proper clean working condition. Operates all machinery and equipment in a safe manner. Will perform required operations to set-up and operate various sizes and types of machines. Mounts, aligns and secures dies, makes adjustments as needed. Inspects work pieces for defects, and measures work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation, using rules, templates, or other measuring instruments. Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions. Positions, adjusts, and secures stock material or work pieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists. Uses forklift to set and remove molds/dies from machines. Removes dies from machines when production runs are finished – inspects last piece and first piece to suggest any adjustments or repairs required. Reads work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup. Positions inserts in dies if required. Sets and regulates machine controls. Perform preventative maintenance and clean-up of machines. Fills out documentation as required. Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly. Follows work instructions and procedures. Able to instruct employees on equipment/machine use if needed. Must modify machine controls to meet print requirements. Works with a sense of urgency to meet production requirements. Other duties as requested. Must be self motivated and have high attention to detail.
- Professional Technical Training in Die Setting or equivalent experience required.
- Able to use hand tools, gauges, dials and/or other indicators to make sure machines are working properly and well as mechanical and overhead crane experience required.
- 5-8 years experience at setting dies required.
- Experience with high tonnage press operation and die setting required.
- Problem solving skills and deductive reasoning.
- Basic computer skills are preferred.
- Able to read work orders and blueprints.
- Process engineering a plus.
